Meg Mawon cup

I created this mug because I wanted this box to shed light on Haiti's resilient history.
This symbol is NEG MAWON: which means "Black Mawon. This symbol is an actual statue in the center of Port-au-Prince. It symbolizes Haiti's independence, resilience, people's fight for freedom, and liberation. , The sculpture is significant. It portrays an enslaved man fighting for his freedom, he's still shackled, but the chains are broken.
He blows a conch shell in his left hand to call others to gather to join the fight for freedom and a machete in his right to show the strength to fight.
The resilience of this symbol was made even more evident after the 2010 earthquake. Everything was crumbled and destroyed surrounding it, but NEG MAWON was still left standing.
"Neg Mawon pap jamn kraze." The freeman can never be destroyed. I created this mug because I wanted this box to shed light on Haiti's resilient history.
